Department of Management at King’s College London in talks with financial firms about joining its Human Resource Management Learning Board

The Department of Management at King’s College London has been in discussion with a number of top financial companies to join its HRM Learning Board.


The board launches this week and aims to pool the resources of academic, industry and government experts on human resource management. Heavyweight City firms UBS and Barclays Business Banking have been approached and the board had also attracted interest from consumer products giant Procter & Gamble.


The board is open to national and international companies, government departments and public sector organisations, and will provide members with access to current research on HRM. From July, it will also run HRM workshops.


Stuart Woollard, director of the new board, told Personnel Today: “We have received feedback from a number of organisations across various industry sectors who would like to be involved in some way.

“The board aims to use academic talent to help to build competence and capability within HR functions. It will provide access to ongoing research and learning activities, along with academics within the HR sector,” Woollard said.


In October 2006, Lancaster University Management School opened its Centre for Performance-Led HR with the aim of bringing together business experts and top HR directors.
