There is a clear association between better people management and development policies and business outcomes such as productivity, growth and profitability, research launched today at the CIPD national conference confirms.
A research team led by Professor David Guest of Kings College London found that such practices have a positive effect on employee attitudes which leads to increased job satisfaction and, in turn, higher productivity and improved financial results.
Separate research on the issue led by Professor John Purcell of Bath University is uncovering links between a company’s ability to make changes in response to external pressures, its guiding big idea or vision, the breaking down of departmental barriers and multifunctional team working.
The authors will discuss their research findings at a seminar today at the CIPD national conference in Harrogate from 9.15 – 12.30. Also on the platform will be business speakers from Nationwide Building Society, AIT Group and Dutton Engineering.
