Leaders
of the Firefighters’ union have warned that more strikes will be called unless
the Government changes its offer during key talks to end the dispute.
Talks
between the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) and Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott
are due later today.

leader Andy Gilchrist said further strikes will be called if the Government
sticks to its line of wanting the fire service modernised along the lines of
George Bain’s review of the service in return for a higher pay rise.
