Firefighters
are set to stage further strike action and have walked out on talks with
mediation service Acas.
The
first 24-hour strike will now take place on 21 January, as the dispute over
improved pay and modernisation rumbles on.
Fire
Brigades’ Union representatives said further conciliation would be a waste of time
because employers have stated they will stick to the 11 per cent offer tied to
modernisation.
The
firefighters are also considering two more 48-hour stoppages on 28 January and
1 February.
