A proposed six-day strike at sports retailer JJB Sports has been called off after workers voted to accept an improved management offer. Neil Holden, Lancashire organiser of the GMB union, said members at a JJB warehouse in Wigan voted by a narrow margin on Thursday to accept the new offer. Workers, who had threatened to walkout on16 December followed by four more in December and one in January, voted by 51.7% to 48.25% to accept the offer But Holden warned that management and unions would have to work harder during 2006 to unite the divided workforce.
