The
TUC has warned that manufacturing will lose another 150,000 jobs this year.
The
warning follows last year’s record figures for job losses and in response the
TUC has launched a new guide advising workers on their rights.
The
new guide aims to raise awareness of the rights of those being made redundant,
giving advice on redundancy pay, notice periods and training.
TUC
general secretary, John Monks said: "In unionised companies workers can
rely on their union to press for alternatives or at least secure a good deal.
"But
those facing redundancy in non-union companies probably have little idea of
their rights."
