Increasing numbers of small to medium-sized firms are being taken
to tribunals after failing to follow the correct procedures when sacking staff.
Analysis of figures from law
firm Peninsula found that 62 per cent of all
the tribunal cases it deals with are centre around unfair dismissal
allegations.
HR managers seem to be
struggling to come to terms with disciplinary procedures, with around 13,300
calling Peninsula’s helpline in June seeking advice on the subject.
