Name and shame hotline dubbed a backward step

The TUC’s
campaign to name and shame call centre managers has been called “regressive” by
the chairwoman of the Call Centre Management Association.

“The fact
that the TUC  has asked workers in a
call centre to name and shame managers is a regressive way of helping the call
centre industry,” said Ann-Marie Stagg at the IRS’s Safe and Healthy Call
Centre conference in London.

The TUC
campaign on was launched this week to highlight the retention and pay issues in
the sector.  The union has asked staff
to shop shoddy employers by ringing the TUC hotline.
