First
Great Eastern railway staff are set to strike twice next month over pay.
RMT
members in most grades – including booking office, cleaners, guards and
platform staff – will take 24-hour industrial action on 17 and 31 March.
The
employees rejected a 3.5 per cent annual pay increase, after the union claimed
other staff members had been offered up to double that.

“We
warned the company not to split negotiations for the various grades in this
year’s pay round, and we made it quite clear that if any group was treated less
favourably we would be back for more,” said RMT general secretary Bob Crow.
