The
Fire Brigades Union (FBU) has halted the planned industrial action which was
due to start tomorrow.
FBU
representatives are now set to meet employers for fresh pay talks to prevent
future strike action.
The
eight-day strike has been cancelled to allow more time to reach agreement but
FBU general secretary Andy Gilchrist warned that time was running out.

He
said firefighters would stage a 48-hour strike on 13 November if an agreement
couldn’t be reached.
