Midlands employers gathered to discuss the latest hot topics at a launch event hosted by Energise yesterday.
Energise consultant Vanessa Boon said, “I am delighted that the launch has been a welcomed opportunity for HR and diversity professionals to discuss current challenges and good practice in the workplace.”
HR practitioners listened a presentation and discussion of the hot topics of the day including the need to make flexible working sustainable, alternative dispute resolution and the results of ‘Personal Development Has Legs’, a piece of research by the Springboard Consultancy into the measurable benefits of personal development.
Ann Webster, equality standard project manager at Derby City Council summarised the launch as “a wonderful event, good networking and an excellent facilitator”. Another guest described the event as “a very informative and positive experience. I picked up a lot of new information from the hot topics”.
Guests also identified actions they would take as a result of the hot topics update. Sharon Colegate, senior training officer at the National Probation Service said she would be following up the recommended resources and research.
HR teams and diversity committees can benefit from a regular ‘Hot Topics’ input so they can keep up to date on the latest best practice and take time out to consider emerging trends.
