Car parts factory Bosch is set to close with the loss of 900 jobs, it has emerged.
The company in Miskin, near Cardiff, Wales, said it would recommend to the board that production should be phased out and the plant closed, after no commercially viable new business was found, the Press Association has reported.
The company began a 90-day consultation period in October, where closure was one of two options. The other was to shed 300 jobs and continue operating with a smaller plant if a new business opportunity had been found.

The consultation period will be extended to the end of February to enable unions and the company to agree the terms for the closure. A final decision is expected within weeks.
Stefan Asenkerschbaumer, president of the starter motors and generators division, and former plant manager at Cardiff, said: “I deeply regret that we could not find a solution for the Cardiff plant. However, with my responsibility for the whole starter motors and generators division, the economic situation in the market leaves me no other choice.”
