UK footwear workers get sick pay scheme

Thousands of workers in the footwear industry have been granted a pay rise and their first ever sick pay scheme, according to the Community trade union.

The union, which represents employees in the UK textile, apparel and footwear manufacturing, retail and logistics industries, said it had reached the agreement with the British Footwear Association.

The pay rise has been set at 2.5% and the sick scheme, which applies to factory workers across the UK, will be introduced later this year.
