The first trial to be brought under the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 will open on 23 February 2010 and is expected to last six weeks, Workplace Law Network has reported.
The case against Cotswold Geotechnical Holdings follows the death of Alexander Wright, a geologist, who was killed in September 2008 when a trench where he had been taking soil samples collapsed.

Company director Peter Eaton has been charged with gross negligence, manslaughter, and for a breach of Section 37 of the 1974 Health and Safety at Work Act.
The trial will take place at Bristol Crown Court.
