More than half or respondents to a Personnel Today poll believe men are preferred to women for the top jobs in HR.
Of 250 votes on the first four days of the online survey, 56% said men were favoured for top HR roles. This is despite women accounting for roughly seven in 10 HR professionals.

It was revealed last week that the profession has a 20% pay gap – well above the 12.6% national average. A survey of more than 5,000 practitioners by the Chartered Management Institute and salary data firm Celre found that the median basic salary for men was £36,220 per year, compared with £28,893 for women.
At HR director level, men earn £50,000 more than women each year (median figures).
