Vibration exposure levels stricter from July

Lower limits on vibration exposure come into force on new equipment introduced from 6 July, designed to protect about two million employees from hand/arm vibration.

Employers are already required to reduce risks to the lowest practical level with existing equipment as part of transitional arrangements which end on 6 July 2010 under the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005.

The Engineering Employers Federation is running surgeries from July to help companies share practice on managing vibration risk at a conference hosted by the Department for Work and Pensions in London.
