Professor John Purcell, a leading authority on people management and employment relations, has joined conciliation service Acas as an academic adviser.
Purcell said: “People are now recognising the importance of good employment relations in raising organisational efficiency and effectiveness.
“How people work together is the key to business success and Acas, with its wealth of experience in the field, has a vital contribution to make to raising productivity and improving working lives.”

Prior to joining Acas, Purcell was professor of HR management at the University of Bath, and director of the Work and Employment Research Centre.
He is also a deputy chairman of the Central Arbitration Committee, and a research professor at Warwick University.
