Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has pledged to give up swearing as part of the fundraising initiative to mark the 40th anniversary of homeless charity Shelter, and is urging employers to join in. The charity wants staff to take part in its Give It Up day on Wednesday 1 March and forgo one luxury item or bad habit to help raise money for the homeless.
A spokeswoman for Shelter said: “The idea behind it is to help promote a positive work environment. Small changes, such as giving up unhealthy snacks or leaving the internal e-mail system alone, can make a big difference to the workplace and to the work of Shelter.”
Ramsay said: “Would you f***ing believe it? I’m giving up swearing for Shelter’s Give It Up day. This is going to be a tough challenge, but when I say I’m going to do something, I [bloody well] do it.”
