Staff at a Heinz factory are set to walk out on Wednesday in a dispute over pay.
The Transport & General Workers’ Union said the action by 800 employees at the factory in Wigan will have an immediate effect on production.
About 1.3 billion cans of beans, soup and spaghetti are produced at the Greater Manchester plant every year.

Workers have been offered a pay deal worth about 4% over two years but are pushing for a rise of more than inflation.
The union has insisted the strike will have a “significant and immediate impact”.
