by Mike Berry 2 Feb 2005

The EU is launching a new initiative to help jobseekers present their qualifications to employers across Europe.

Europass brings together five elements:

  • the Europass CV, Language Passport, Europass Mobility – a record of any experience abroad
  • Diploma Supplement – for graduates of higher education
  • Certificate Supplement – for holders of any vocational certificates.

Education commissioner Jan Figel told the EUobserver website: “Europass is a very concrete and important step towards a common European higher education area and a truly united European labour market”.

Altogether, the tools are supposed to make it easier for job-seekers to explain their qualifications to employers across Europe.
