The
trade union representing industrial prison workers is advising its members to
reject a new one per cent pay offer.
Industrial
workers, responsible for the maintenance of the security systems and prison
buildings, are being balloted by the GMB union on the one per cent rise today,
after waiting six months for the formal offer.
Under
the proposals workers maybe also be eligible for a 2.3 percent pay progression
and a 2.8 per cent fee increase for mandatory call outs.
However
Neil Moore, a national officer for the GMB described the move as derisory and
insulting.
