The
Health and Safety executive (HSE) has revised its advice for staff using
computers following amendments to safety laws introduced last year.
The
latest guidance concentrates on the importance of employees and safety
representatives carrying out risk assessments and reporting health problems to
employers.
More
than five million people in the UK work with visual display units (VDU) and
many suffer from health problems because they aren’t operating the equipment in
the right way.
Around
1.1 million employees suffer from musculoskeletal disorders caused or made
worse by work and the HSE hopes the publication of its new advice will raise
awareness around the proper use of VDUs.
