French
factory staff work harder than their British counterparts, a Toyota senior
executive has claimed.
Kosuke
Shiramizu, a board member in charge of global production at Toyota, said
production at the Valenciennes plant near Lille in France is 20 per cent higher
than that at Burnaston, near Derby.
He
told the Financial Times: “In France there are many unemployed people and so
[those with jobs] tend to work harder.”
Shiramizu
said British workers are more picky and prefer to ‘job hop’.
