Senior HR salaries outrun inflation

The
median total reward package for HR directors now stands at £100,000 a year
according to research.

The
joint survey of 5,600 HR staff at 154 companies by Computer Economics and Remuneration
Economics also reports that basic HR salaries increased by 6.1 per cent in the
12 months to September 2002. This is down 0.3 per cent from 2001’s 6.4 per cent
increase.

Total
earnings including bonus increased by 7.9 per cent.

Function
heads typically earn a basic salary of more than £60,000 which increases to
more than £67,000 a year with bonus.

The
survey reveals that the average reward package for department managers totals
£52,000 a year.

Senior
HR officers take home just under £30,000 a year, while HR assistants typically
earn under £18,000 a year.
