Double trouble as 2002 strike days pass million mark

The
number of working days lost to strike action doubled this year, according to
official figures.

The
Office of National Statistics recorded that days lost to strike action in the
year up to October have doubled to just over one million.

Industrial
action in 2002 included local government staff, workers striking over London
weighting, and train operator pay disputes including South West Trains and
Arriva Trains Northern.
