Speed freak Lucy Bolton has become the HR director of RSA Security and
celebrated with style – by splashing out on a new TVR sportscar.

She joins the company from Sun Microsystems, where she was an HR manager,
supporting the sales teams in the UK and EMEA region.

RSA helps organisations conduct e-business through a range of authentication
products and web access management solutions. The role of the HR function is
set to grow following Bolton’s appointment.

"HR has a strong remit to build the operational strength of the
business through its people. Key focus areas will be motivation and retention,
organisational development, communication and performance management," she
says.

Bolton, who has a degree in psychology and an MSc in personnel management,
hopes to add value to the business through strong HR policies.

"I want to raise the profile of HR both internally and externally, and
build strong global relationships. HR needs to be proactive and not afraid to
take a few risks," she says.

Bolton believes that good HR should continuously support, advise and
challenge decision makers to ensure the business gets the best from its
resources.

"HR needs to be able to ask the awkward questions and have the courage
to recommend creative alternatives to any problems that arise," she says.

During her HR career, Bolton most enjoyed winning board level influence,
which she describes as "hugely rewarding".
