BBC sees sex and age discrimination cases against it quadruple in two years

Sex and age discrimination cases against the BBC have quadrupled in the past two years, according to the Telegraph.

Information released under the Freedom of Information Act show 12 women brought sex discrimination claims against the corporation last year, nine the previous year and three the year before that. Three cases of ageism have also been brought against the BBC in the past three years.

The BBC refused to say how many of the women had received payouts.

A corporation spokesman said: “The BBC takes its responsibilities as a fair employer very seriously. Employing over 17,000 people means that on occasion there will be cases such as this but over the course of three years this represents a very small proportion of our workforce.”
