Australian-born Jane Lawlor has just taken over as the internal
communications manager at Chivas Brothers, the newly-formed Scotch whiskey
business of Pernod Ricard.

"I am particularly looking forward to the challenge and variety offered
by a career in internal communications with a newly-established company,"
she says.

In her new role, she will be responsible for the firm’s internal
communications strategy across England and Scotland.

She says that she really enjoys her new job as it gives her the chance to
work closely with people in the company: "I think face-to-face
communication is very important and I especially like the fact that it puts me
in touch with people’s true reactions."

Lawlor believes internal communications are vital to anysuccessful HR
function, especially in a newly established one such as Chivas Brothers.
"This is because good communication between an organisation and its
employees is essential in a company like this, which has a wide-ranging, global
portfolio of premium brands," she explains.

Lawlor was born and raised in Australia, where she received her BA in
psychology and human movements from the University of Queensland.

She comes from a marketing and communications background which has covered a
range of industry sectors including politics, finance and sport.

"My internal communications experience covers such international
companies as Unilever and Telewest, where I managed the communications
implementation of company best practice and change management programmes,"
she explains.
