Leading Conservatives will run both the Department of Health and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) under the new Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition government.
Andrew Lansley, formerly Conservative shadow health secretary, has been appointed Secretary of State by prime minister David Cameron. Former Tory leader Iain Duncan-Smith, meanwhile, has taken the top job at the DWP.

After stepping down as party leader, Duncan-Smith set up the centre-right think-tank The Centre for Social Justice , which has played an influential role in developing Tory thinking on welfare reform.
Sally Davies is the interim chief medical officer. Other ministerial appointments in the DoH are Paul Burstow, Simon Burns, Anne Milton, and Earl Howe. At the DWP, new ministers are Chris Grayling, Steve Webb, Maria Miller, and Lord Freud. Policy responsibilities are yet to be announced.
