Young, educated and gay equals more cash

Openly
gay couples earn on average 20.5 per cent more than hetrosexual couples, but
still less than they should given their levels of education, according to
National Statistics.

The
FT reports that a survey carried out for National Statistics found 36 per cent
of openly gay people are employed and living with a partner with a degree,
comparied with just 16 per cent of hetrosexuals.

The
difference in education suggests gay couples should earn 23 per cent more than
hetrosexual ones, according to the report.

The
report’s authors said the higher educational levels of openly gay couples might
be a reflection of more gay people in higher-earning jobs revealing their
sexuality.
