ScotRail train drivers hold 24-hour strike

A
24-hour strike by ScotRail train drivers in Scotland is under way after talks
aimed at resolving a pay dispute ended without agreement.

Union
members walked out after the stalemate remained unbroken at yesterday’s
meeting. The two sides met for several hours at the Glasgow offices of
conciliation service Acas. The walk-out will cause major disruption for tens of
thousands of rail users throughout the day.

Two
further 24-hour strikes are planned for later this month unless an agreement
can be reached.

Officials
from Aslef and the Rail Maritime and Transport Union will meet ScotRail
managers at the Acas offices again tomorrow morning.
