Sainsbury’s staff expected to share £70m bonus pool

Sainsbury’s staff are expected to share an estimated £70m bonus pool, as the retailer reports its full-year results this week.

News of the bonus will come as the supermarket chain is predicted to announce that profits have risen from £519m to more than £600m, the Times has reported.

The bonus will be shared by more than 120,000 staff, giving workers, on average, £580 each.

Sainsbury’s chief executive Justin King is expected to receive a cash bonus of more than £1m, compared to the £869,000 award he received last year.
