The CBI has appointed Jeremy Beale as its new head of
E-Business with the aim of making the UK one of the best countries to conduct
e-business.
Beale replaces Nigel Hickson, who has become e-commerce
consultant to the Government of Bermuda.
“There is an important role for the CBI. We want to work
with companies to ensure the Government removes obstacles to trading through
e-commerce. With the economy in a downturn it is possible companies could ‘pull
in their horns’ and the e-commerce sector could suffer as a result. I see a
vital role in building confidence in e-business as the means for ensuring the
UK leads the way in reaping the rewards of the upturn when it comes,” said
Beale.
