More than three-quarters of workers in the City of London
have been re-employed after being made redundant, according to statistics
released today.
Research by the outplacement agency Meridian Consulting reveals
that 84 per cent of City workers have successfully found re-employment, or set up
their own business, an increase of 3 per cent compared to last year.
The findings also show that the 51 per cent of redundant
workers have negotiated a salary increase in their new jobs.
Linda Jackson, business director at Meridian Consulting,
said, “We achieved these strong results at a time of economic uncertainty,
which has been intensifying since January.
Giving outplacement support to departing employees is still an important
way for the best employers to differentiate themselves.”
