ILAs: last chance for £150 incentive

The
Department for Education and Skills has announced that the £150 introductory
offer to encourage people to open Individual Learning Accounts will expire on
31st July 2001.

The
incentive was offered to the first million people to open an ILA by
contributing £25 of their own money, and then use the account to buy training.

Of
the 1.2 million people who have registered to open an ILA, only around 800,000
people have so far purchased training which entitles them to the £150 handout.

People
who have registered, but not purchased training, now have until 31st July to
act or lose the £150 incentive.

Anyone
booking after this time will be entitled to a 20 per cent discount on eligible training
that they purchase – this includes most work- and employment-related training..

Some
courses purchased with an ILA attract an 80 per cent discount. These are mostly
specific IT and maths courses leading to recognised qualifications such as City
& Guilds, GCSE.

Individuals
who act fast, may still be able to secure £150. Training resourcing company World
of Training is offering a fast-track service to help people take last minute advantage
of the Government’s offer:

1. Call World of Training on
   01225 447124, mentioning Personnel Today/ILAs. You will need to contribute
   £25 to your account to qualify for the £150 incentive from the Government.
2. Call the ILA helpline on
   0800 072 5678 to request a form, or apply online at www.worldoftraining.com.
   Alternatively, World of Training will do this on your behalf.
3. Complete and return your
   form immediately, and you will receive your ILA number.
4. Give this number to World
   of Training by phone or online, and they will reserve the £150 grant for
   you.
5. You can then use the grant
   to buy £150 of training.
6. If you can’t get the £150
   grant – for example because you miss the cut-off date of 31 July – World of
   Training will rebate your £25.
