In its rush
to increase pay for teachers and nurses before the General Election the Government
has increased wage inflation to record levels, claims the Office for National
Statistics.
The ONS
said that earnings increased by 5.3 per cent in the 12 months to April, excluding
bonuses. It is the highest annual rate on record.
Nurses and
teachers received their annual pay rise a head of schedule after the
government’s pay review bodies announced their findings three months earlier.
