Local government minister Beverley Hughes is to launch a
handbook containing guidelines for local councils on tendering and awarding
contracts when outsourcing services.
She will be joined at a DETR briefing on the launch by the chairman
of the CBI’s Local Government Procurement Panel, Stelio Stephanou and the Local
Government Association’s head of strategy, Matthew Warburton.
The handbook of
Workforce matters in Best Value Contracting, will issue local authorities with
guidance on staff training, management and the selection of tendering and
awarding contracts. It aims to produce a well-trained and motivated workforce
to achieve Best Value.
