The Commission for Racial Equality has announced who is to head its formal investigation into racial discrimination in the prison service.
Racial equality commissioner District Judge Ray Singh, a member of the commission since 1996, will be in charge of the probe. The CRE has nominated three other commissioners to sit with Singh on the investigation panel: Beverley Bernarde, Kamaljeet Jandu and Patrick Passley.

The commission is also assembling an investigation team which includes outside expertise.
