Although annual retail sales grew modestly in November, sales growth remains lower than reported in the first half of this year, the CBI said today. According to the CBI’s latest quarterly Distributive Trades Survey, 43 per cent of retailers reporting a rise in sales volumes compared to a year ago in November, while 30 per cent reported a fall. Business optimism among retailers is at its weakest since November 1998, the CBI said.
