Scottish personnel directors’ debate ‘HR in the 21st century’

The Society of Directors of Personnel Scotland begins its two day conference today with a theme of HR in the 21st century and focusing on job evaluation, restructuring and best value.

Among the speakers at the Turnberry Hotel in Ayr will be Neil Rodden, group HR director with the Royal Bank of Scotland, who will be explaining how the Royal Bank has shifted the HR role from administrative tasks toward a more strategic approach.

Gail Shadlock, HR Manager with Lincolnshire County Council and Caroline Roberts, Director of HR with the Hyder Group will be debating the future for local government in Scotland in the Personnel Today-sponsored presentation on Friday. They will be covering issues of partnership, outsourcing the personnel function, health and safety issues and the way in which HR professionals need to revitalise the agenda.
