Airline company Virgin Atlantic and ad agency Barkers beat
19 other category winners at the annual Recruitment Advertising Awards in
London last week to take the coveted overall prize.
Olympic gold medal-winning rower Matthew Pinsent presented
the award for Best Work of the Year at the Grosvenor House Hotel for the
advertisement for a hair technician.
The judges said the ad, which also won the General
Appointments category, has “universal appeal”. They praised its use of colour,
and said it was “visually arresting, and supported by well-written copy that
entertains as well as sets out the details of the job”.
Redstone Telecom, which used the agency ThirtyThree, won the
Personnel and Training category with what the judges described as an
advertisement that was “well-worked and consistent”. It said it portrayed the
company as a great place to work without underplaying the seriousness of the
task.
