Apprenticeships

Alliance Learning gives employers £2,500 for apprentice boost

by Personnel Today 5 Feb 2010
by Personnel Today 5 Feb 2010

North West training provider, Alliance Learning are pledging their support to the Government’s recent ‘Golden Hello’ scheme in order to improve employment rates amongst local youngsters.

In support of the Getting Britain Back to Work policy the government is to offer £2,500 to firms to encourage them to take on young apprentices. The first companies to agree to employ and train a 16 or 17 year- old will qualify for the one-off payment between January and April of this year.

The purpose of the scheme allows local employers to receive additional funding in order to fully support the development of their apprentice.

This offer is for a limited time only with only 750 places being allocated for businesses throughout the Northwest that employ less than 250 people – so companies who are interested need to act fast! All applications need to be submitted to local training provider, Alliance Learning by Friday 5th March.

Unemployment amongst young people rose significantly last month with over a million 16-24 year olds failing to successfully enter employment training or education. Alliance Learning are urging employers to enquire about the ‘Golden Hello’ scheme to see what type of apprentice opportunities are available for their company.

Steve Whitehead, Chief Executive at Alliance Learning commented:

“The government’s recognition of rising unemployment in local communities reinforces the main initiative of Alliance Learning. We are perceptive to the needs of young school leavers, realising that not all want to go onto higher education.

“This scheme is about giving young people a chance to gain employment in a trade they are passionate about and at the same time give employers an opportunity to support them without applying a financial strain on their own company.”

Give a young person a chance and train them your way. If your business is interested in recruiting an Apprentice please let us know today, or if would like to discuss this opportunity further please contact us today on 01204 677822.
