Thousands of line managers at insurance giant Axa have taken part in role-playing scenarios as part of a company-wide culture change programme.
Last month more than 2,000 managers attended a launch event for the ‘Trusted Line Manager’ programme. They took part in a number of role play scenarios that line managers might face with their employees on a day-to-day basis.
Sonia Wolsey-Cooper, group HR director for Axa UK, said the courses allowed the firm to see its managers at work. “It’s a practical assessment that is helpful for all parties involved, but this is just the start,” she told Personnel Today.

“The programme will continue over the next 18 months providing managers with further development to help equip them with the skills to be effective in managing their teams.”
She said that similar scenarios had been successful when used for nearly 13,000 employees earlier this year.
