Striking British Airways staff will be unable to picket the airline’s Heathrow base due to ‘picketing protocol’.
The 1,000 cabin crew planning to strike were expected to picket Terminal Five, but as this is on privately owned land, writes the Guardian, they will unable to do so due to ‘picketing protocol’ drawn up by Heathrow’s owner, BAA.
Representatives of Bassa, Unite the union’s cabin crew branch, have met with police to discuss picketing arrangements.
While strikers have a number of other sites to choose from, including Hatton Cross underground station, the closest they can get to Terminal Five, which processes most Heathrow using BA passengers, is a roundabout off the A3044.
