Many companies have been accused of having a laugh with wild and wacky
training ideas, but a new course is designed to do just that.
A new training scheme from BBC Worldwide is using archive footage from some
of the corporation’s comedy classics to improve the managers’ skills.
‘Management Essentials’ uses clips from TV programmes, including the Fast Show
and Are You Being Served?, to help managers focus on developing staff,
improving business performance and running an effective operation. The course,
produced in conjunction with the National Extension College, uses the comedies
as exaggerated examples of poor management in the workplace. Trainees can learn
at their own pace using computers, videos and books to work through the
programme.
