The
culture of constant binge drinking across Britain is costing employers an
estimated £6.4bn every year, a government report has found.
The
Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit has published a report that shows around 17
million working days are lost in the UK because of hangovers and drink-related
sickness each year.
The
study estimates the total cost to the country is in excess of £20bn with the
associated NHS, criminal, social and clean-up costs.
More
shockingly, the report’s authors concede that the figures they used may even be
too conservative an estimate.
