European Computer Driving Licence
It is part of the training landscape now but with so many providers offering
the European/International Computer Driving Licence (ECDL/ICDL) courseware this
is a handy site to bookmark when you need independent information and advice.
It is run by the ECDL Foundation, the global governing body of ECDL, whose role
it is to implement ECDL as an IT skills certification programme throughout the
world. If you are new to the ECDL, it is a good place to go to find out the
background and familiarise yourself with the overall mission of the course. You
can download the syllabus of the current version, along with the advanced
modules and test papers and there is a useful list of approved courseware with
web links to the respective supplier’s site, plus an FAQ section. It also has
links to all the ECDL/ICDL test centres and regional offices around the world.
The news section, where you can keep abreast with the take-up of the course,
and Spotlight, which focuses on a particular country (Turkey when we dropped
by), both make interesting reading.
