Supermarket chain Budgens has expanded its management
trainee scheme to meet its growth targets of 20 new store openings in the next
financial year.
It has recruited 50 people for its management trainee
scheme, which starts in June, and claims that only Asda has a larger scheme.
Paul Daynes, senior HR adviser at Budgens, believes that the
expanded scheme will improve the quality of the supermarket’s stores and
improve staff retention.
He said, “We believe that if we can train up good store
managers then this will reflect the quality of the rest of the business all the
way down.”
