Organisations
responding to the review of the tribunal system want more costs to be awarded
against companies found to be unfairly dismissing staff.
The
consultation exercise, carried out by the Lord Chancellor’s Department as part
of its review of the tribunal system, shows that one unnamed body wanted to
have the power to award "greater or unlimited" amounts in basic or
unfair dismissal cases.
Another
response to the review, which started in May, called for tribunals to have the
power to be able to award punitive damages against employers for bad employment
practice.
