CBI’s new president outlines key priorities

The
CBI’s new president said that restoring the reputation of business and ensuring
business is at the heart of policy making for the next government will be his
key priorities.

John
Sunderland, executive chairman of Cadbury Schweppes, took over as president
following confirmation of his appointment at the CBI’s annual general meeting
held in London. He replaces Sir John Egan.

Sunderland
said he wanted to restore the battered reputation of UK plc so the talented
younger generation would not turn its back on business.

“We
need to create a culture where the values of good corporate governance become
programmed into everyday business management,” he said.
